Fashion as a Living Story: Paris Designers Reimagine the Catwalk

Fashion as a Living Story: Paris Designers Reimagine the Catwalk

Parijs, maandag, 30 juni 2025.
During Paris Men’s Fashion Week, renowned brands like LGN, KidSuper, and Ziggy Chen are transforming traditional fashion shows into multidisciplinary storytelling experiences. Instead of conventional runway presentations, these designers are using cinema, performance, and poetry to reveal their collections. LGN Louis-Gabriel Nouchi, for instance, presented his Spring-Summer 2026 collection as an animation film inspired by ‘Blade Runner’, while KidSuper created a theatrical show based on ‘The Little Prince’. This innovative approach blurs the boundaries between fashion, art, and storytelling, making the presentation itself a creative statement that goes beyond the clothing.

Innovative Presentation Formats

During Paris Men’s Fashion Week, brands are transforming the traditional catwalk into a multidisciplinary storytelling experience. LGN Louis-Gabriel Nouchi presented his Spring-Summer 2026 collection as an animation film called ‘The Replicant’, inspired by Philip K. Dick’s ‘Blade Runner’ [1][2]. The film was screened at the avant-garde Silencio club in Paris, where Nouchi stated that he wanted to escape the stress of traditional fashion shows [1].

Theatrical Storytelling

KidSuper Studios, led by designer Colm Dillane, went a step further by organizing a spectacular theatre show at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The performance, titled ‘The Boy Who Jumped the Moon’, was inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s ‘The Little Prince’ and was even offered as a book to guests [3].

Cultural and Sustainable Approach

Ziggy Chen introduced a ‘slow fashion’ approach for his Spring-Summer 2026 collection, inspired by the light, persistent rain in the Jiangnan region near Shanghai. The collection consisted of light, overlapping layers of natural materials such as hemp, linen, cotton, and crumpled silk [4].
