Le Coq Sportif: Strategic Restart under Dan Mamane
Parijs, vrijdag, 4 juli 2025.
French-Swiss entrepreneur Dan Mamane has convinced the Paris court with his bid to acquire the sports fashion brand Le Coq Sportif. His consortium beat a competing offer, with Alexandre Fauvet, former CEO of Fusalp, set to lead the new strategic trajectory. The ambitious plan aims to resurrect the historic brand, with a targeted repositioning as an international premium sports and lifestyle brand, targeting expected revenue of €300 million by 2030. The acquisition follows a period of financial challenges, during which the brand was placed under receivership in November 2024, while maintaining its iconic status and unique textile heritage.
Court Decision and Acquisition
French-Swiss entrepreneur Dan Mamane was given preference by the Paris court on Friday for the acquisition of Le Coq Sportif. His consortium defeated a competing bid from Neopar-Iconix and Xavier Niel, who previously had the support of judoka Teddy Riner [1][2]. The court approved the recovery plan presented by the judicial administrators, based on Mamane’s project [3].
Financial Restructuring
Mamane’s takeover proposal includes new financial injections of €70 million and a social restructuring that preserves 201 jobs, with between 89 and 94 redundancies, of which 81 to 86 are permanent contracts, following the creation of 14 new positions [1][4].
Strategic Vision
The plan aims to reposition Le Coq Sportif as a leading international brand in sports and premium lifestyle, with an ambitious revenue target of €300 million by 2030, compared to €122 million in 2023 [5]. The product portfolio will be reorganised around four core universes: sportstyle, sports heritage, chic lifestyle, and technical performance [5].
New Leadership
Alexandre Fauvet, former CEO of Fusalp, will lead the strategic reorientation as the new director. The consortium is supported by investment fund Mirabaud Patrimoine Vivant and also receives support from the Japanese Itochu corporation and Udi Avshalom, an internationally recognised sneaker expert [1][6].
